Pearl City library stocks up on K-Dramas
Palama Supermarkets, one of the largest Korean-owned businesses in Hawaii with three locations on Oahu,
selected Pearl City Public Library to receive the DVDs because of the close proximity to its recently-opened Waimalu store.
Through a partnership with the Korean Library Foundation, the company donated copies of highly-requested K- Drama DVDs to the Library. Daniel Lim, President of Palama Supermarkets, presented the generous donation of DVDs in a small ceremony this week.
“This was an opportunity for Palama Supermarkets to give back to the community,” he said.
“There is a huge demand for these K-Drama DVDs, and this donation will be heavily-used and enjoyed by not only the Pearl City Public Library patrons, but also our library patrons statewide,” said Les Yanagi, Acting Branch Manager of Pearl City Public Library. “We would also like to thank Palama Supermarkets for their ongoing partnership with the Korean Library Foundation in bringing Korean language materials to Hawaii for our library system, and in particular to the McCully-Moiliili and Salt Lake-Moanalua Libraries.”
The DVD titles include: “Boys Over Flowers (Vol. 1),” “Boys Over Flowers (Vol. 2),” Brilliant Legacy,” Celebrity Sweetheart,” City Hall,” “Hwang Jini,” “I Love You,” “Inside the White Tower,” “My Destiny,” “Oasis.”
In addition, “One Fine Day,” “Piano,” “Tamra Island,” “The Grand Chef (Vol. 1),” “The Grand Chef (Vol. 2),” “The King and I (Vol. 1),” “The King and I (Vol. 2),” “The King and I (Vol. 3),” “200 Pounds,” “Tree of Heaven,” and “You’re Beautiful.”
Residents can borrow these and other DVDs with a valid library card for just a dollar for seven days at either the Library or online at www.librarieshawaii.org.
