Police seek sex assault suspect
CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect who sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in her home, then stole a number of valuables as he fled. With the victim leaving for the Mainland this week, police are particularly interested in nabbing the suspect quickly. Investigators are hoping the man’s distinctive tattoos will help in the hunt.
Detectives are already canvassing Waikiki in the hopes of locating the suspect, as that’s where the victim met the suspect’s friends on Saturday. The group went to the victim’s house, and the victim later awoke during the assault. The suspect took off, but not before stealing a computer, a Playstation game console, a cell phone, and numerous DVDs.
The suspect is described as a Hawaiian male in his late teens to early 20s with dark hair and a slight mustache. He was wearing earrings on both ears and a gold pendant in the shape of a marijuana leaf. He also, police note, had tattoos on his left forearm, and one large tattoo across his stomach reading “Outlaw” in an Old English typeface.
“The tattoo is quite unique and the suspect ‘proudly’ displays it,” notes Detective Letha DeCaires.
