Delta adds daily Atlanta route

Delta Air Lines announced today that it will begin non-stop service between Atlanta and Honolulu beginning in August. In addition, the airline will offer three daily one-stop flights between Atlanta and Honolulu, and a one-stop flight between Atlanta and Maui. The new East Coast route drew praise from Gov. Linda Lingle, who said in a statement, “Delta’s announcement shows great confidence in the long-term strength of Hawaii’s tourism and business market.”

The Atlanta-Honolulu route will use Boeing 767 aircraft, and will depart Atlanta at 11:50 a.m. EDT and arrive in Honolulu at 3:15 p.m. HST. The return flight will depart Honolulu at 5:45 p.m. HST and arrive in Atlanta at 8:35 a.m. EDT.

“This new nonstop service from Atlanta to Honolulu gives customers another choice for flying Delta to Hawaii, one of the world’s top leisure destinations,” said Delta spokesperson Subodh Karnik. “Customers can now choose to fly nonstop to Hawaii from Delta’s Atlanta or Salt Lake City hubs, as well as from Los Angeles or San Francisco.”

Delta already offers a daily non-stop flights between Salt Lake City and Honolulu, and San Francisco and Honolulu, Los Angeles and Honolulu, and Los Angeles and Maui.

“We are pleased that after months of discussions with local industry leaders, Delta is making this significant commitment to our state,” Lingle said.
