Hawaii surfing series planned
BURBANK, CA – The WB Television Network will bring Hawaii to the mainland in the summer of 2003 with the reality series “North Shore.”
The series follows seven professional surfers who will live together in a beach house in Hawaii while competing against each other in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Viewers will have the unique opportunity to see inside the largely unknown culture of surfing and the aggressive world of competition. The series will consist of six one-hour episodes.
Filming on the majestic North Shore of Oahu, the series will feature five-time Vans Triple Crown champ Sunny Garcia, defending Vans Triple Crown champion Myles Padaca, Damien Hobgood who ranks #14 in the world, big wave surfer Danny Fuller, model and world traveler Veronica Kay, college graduate and top female extreme athlete of the Teen Choice Awards Holly Beck and Australian Chelsea Georgeson, who currently ranks fifth in the world among all female surfers.

The $750,000 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, celebrating its 20th anniversary at Oahu’s renowned North Shore in November and December 2002, consists of the Vans Hawaiian Pro – November 12-23, the Rip Curl Cup – November 24-December 7 and the Xbox Pipeline Masters – December 7-20.
The series is Produced by Basic Elements, a production company engaged in the development, creation and production of television programming for broadcast in all arenas, including network, syndication and cable – with emphasis on alternative programming. The first project to be produced in association with Basic Elements is “Livin’ Large,” the first-run syndicated weekly one-hour magazine format lifestyle series hosted by Carmen Electra and Kadeem Hardison.
